First, as a fire captains wife of 27 years I started reading Kurt Kamm's books because they involved the fire service, and they were written in local/familiar settings. I first heard of this author when he showed up to observe a USAR team tunnel rescue drill in Ventura Co.My husband was one of the captains in charge, and ended up in the credits in the back of the book "Tunnel Visions". Kurt kindly sent him a copy. I thought it would be cheesy, but finally read it. I couldn't put it down. Kurt writes in a style called "faction" which I find very interesting, and page turning. I have now read all of his books and recommend all of them. I live a pretty sheltered life... ...There's some pretty creepy stuff out there

CODE BLOOD edition by Kurt Kamm Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews

This is a great read. Kurt Kamm really takes you into the lives of his characters. I couldn't put it down. Hopefully he uses Colt in future books..
This was a good read. It moves along fast, giving just the right amount of detail to tell the story. There's use of EMS jargon, just enough to give credibility to the scenes without interfering with the action. Characters were interesting and believable. I've recommeneded it to my EMS and firefighter fellow readers.
Another great book!
Kurt Kamm does an amazing job of letting the readers get to know how one young fire fighter yearned to find the missing foot of an accident victim and what a dark side of folks that lead a mysterious life style is all about. Interesting twists and turns and an easy read and I found I couldn't put the book down. I would recommend this book!
Wow, another well written entertaining mystery and page turner by Kurt Kamm and I loved it. In this book Kamm touches on the dark side of LA, the underworld of body part dealers, blood fetishism, Goth clubs, stalkers and more like stem cell research and Bombay blood. All topics I don't usually read about. Have you ever heard of Bombay blood? I didn't think so. The rarest of rare.
I really enjoyed Kurt Kamm's Code Blood. It is an exciting thriller that takes the reader from a freak traffic accident on a Los Angeles costal highway to the bowels of UCLA campus stem cell research Laboratories. A devoted Los Angeles County Fire Paramedic Colt Lewis comforts a dying beautiful girl whose foot was severed in the accident. When the severed foot was not found Colt is driven by his pursuit to recover the missing foot and becomes involved with an albino psychotic wannabe vampire whose intelligence is muddled in the macabre world of the occult of blood and body parts. This weird albino wannabe vampire, pursuits a Chinese research student who has the one of the world's rarest blood types and becomes his obsession to taste it. To pursuit his passion for body parts, which he keeps in his freezer, he becomes involved with a Russian underworld body parts dealer, working out of a funeral home. When he becomes indebted to the Russians he must find a way to pay them the money he owes by pursuing the unsuspecting Chinese student. All of this is set in L.A. and its multicultural background. I found it very informative in many areas. Obvious Mr. Kamm has done extensive research to make the reader feel the intensity of the drama. I found it an exciting page turning read and would recommend it to anyone who likes a good mystery.

"Code Blood" is more than a great chiller. Its multiple view-point story line works very well in this tale of extraordinary cruelty. The severed foot reminds me of a case not so long ago in LA. But what works best for me in this well-written novel is the thought processes of the major characters, especially that of A Li and her anguish over her twin sister.

Again, we have a journeyman in training, (see "One Foot in the Black." also by Kamm) this time a paramedic, and we see the progress, the slips and slides, but then always the thorough dedication to the profession. This author deeply researches what he writes, and those true details make the read even more enjoyable. I could have done without the Goth scene, but I learned a lot, and it interlocked the stories into a whole satisfying tale.

My guess is there will be more in this series of firemen acting in their element, and I welcome a Kamm read because the writing is excellent and the information abounds. A thriller, but also an informer. Best of all, I learn a lot in an easy, enjoyable way.
